Sebastian Professional X Stephen Marr NZFW 2012 – Wednesday

Sebastian Professional teamed up with Stephen Marr to create the perfect runway hair for 8 of the shows last week. We spoke to Stephen Marr’s Creative Director, Lauren Gunn, to find out the inspiration behind the runway hair looks for Wednesday’s Riddle Me This show. You can check out Tuesday’s looks here.

RIDDLE ME THIS
This is a show that really stood out for its unselfconscious charm and energy. Styled up by New York based ex-pat Zara Mirkin, the hair look began with a no limits 90’s grunge brief. Channelling the Seattle scene of that time we greased down the hair Kurt Cobain style and amped up fun with some spray on color.

“Looking back, I loved the nineties, it was the only decade of late that came close to embodying the attitude of the punk era, which I missed out on having been only a toddler at the time. I had a lot of fun putting this look together, the freedom of playing with color gave this show a real sense of liberated youth and upbeat anarchy.”

How to get the look
Step 1. Starting at the nape, flatten down sections of hair by applying a mixture of Sebastian Professional Craft Clay and Sebastian Professional Halo Mist to the roots of your hair.
Step 2. Give yourself a low side part and tuck your hair behind both ears.
Step 3. Pull out a couple of pieces of hair either side and flatten them into sideburns with the Craft Clay.

Hot Tip: Pick up a can of colored hairspray from your local $2 shop and spritz it on your hair for some pop. Keep it random to get a true grunge homeschooled feel.
